When I picked the rebuild up, I also got a couple of gaskets and such to have on hand for assembly and bolting the rest of the bits on. Turns out I didn’t need any of that stuff and it was all there. So far so good. It was an afternoon job to trade out the old (thrown rod) core and drop this new one in.

I thought it was a good price to replace the motor in a family vehicle, opening up a nice clean ready to go block , with a 4 year unlimited mile warranty, well spent money!!

My old engine had 253,000 miles on it when I bought the Surefire engine. It smoked so badly at start-up, that you would've thought I was a spy trying to lose someone tailing me. It also had that horrible knocking noise coming from some of the rockers that were obviously screaming for attention. This new engine went in flawlessly, and sounds as quietly as a sewing machine. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!

I put this engine in my 2006 GMC Sierra in 2015. Over 2 yrs later and 50,000 miles and have had zero problems. Runs great and couldn't be happier.

  • Wrong oil pump was used
    Jim - 3 months ago

They used an older style oil pump that has a 80 psi relief valve that was used between 1999 and 1993. Instead of what was used from 1994 on and had 64 psi relief valve. I think that my oil pressure for my 1999 2.2 is too high. It's running at 70- 75 psi. I double checked it with a mechanical guage because I didn't believe what my dash guage showed.
